Fun Times This Weekend!

This weekend in Castle Rock promises more fun for you and your family than you’ve had all winter! With bounce houses and live music, a trail-blazing trek, outdoor movie, 24-hour bicycle race and lots of cocktails and craft beer, you’ll want to plan now for the entire weekend!

GENEALOGY WORKSHOP
Curious about your lineage? Interested in tracing distant relatives and ancestors? Drop by for this workshop – a multi-level curriculum of beginning, intermediate and advanced genealogical studies – to find out more.

SUMMER CONCERT IN PARKER
Discovery Park is the place to be Thursday nights this summer. The kickoff concert features Tunisia, a 10-piece band with a set list that covers hits from Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Katy Perry, Led Zeppelin and more!

FITNESS FRIDAYS!
Come to the park and enjoy the great outdoors right here in Castle Rock with the Fitness Division’s Summer Fitness Series. Challenge yourself and your friends by conquering the 200-stair Challenge Hill or try out the new (and fun!) fitness formats during Fitness Fridays – each week a new exercise format is highlighted. You can even relax and unwind with Yoga in the Park each Sunday morning. Plus, don’t miss our two outdoor fitness fundraising events. REAL Morning Zumba in the Park and REAL Zumba Glow.

FRIDAY AFTER FIVE
It’s time to unwind at the first Friday After Five in downtown Castle Rock. Sarah P and the Dirty Logger hit the stage with their unique guitar and percussion sound, covering everything from country hits to R&B. With food vendors and displays by local retailers, cocktails and craft beer, settle in for a lumberjack-themed evening of fun this Friday!

HAPPY HOUR STAND-UP
The featured comic this weekend at the Fine Arts Center is Nathan Lund, a favorite at Denver’s Comedy Works. Lund has performed at festivals across the country and was featured on the television sitcom Flophouse on the Viceland network.

ELLA FITZGERALD TRIBUTE
There is only one Ella Fitzgerald, but Tina Phillips is an artist with a reverent passion for the legendary jazz impresario and stellar vocals. Fitzgerald had a huge influence on Tina as she studied the traditions of vocal jazz throughout the last 40 years. This special performance will be preceded by a cash bar.

MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE
The 2017 Subaru ERock Sunrise-Sunset is an annual weekend bicycle race event designed to offer recreational and competitive cyclists the thrill of a challenging endurance race on a moderate off-road course. Ride solo or put together a team of cycling amigos for a memorable day of endorphin-releasing camaraderie and great exercise. Your entry fee includes refreshments and support throughout each of the rides, a ticket to the post-ride Italian picnic, a collector’s 2017 t-shirt, a chance to win dozens of valuable prizes and a wristband that admits you to the lunch expo. Be among the first to blaze the trails during the Rueter-Hess Reservoir on National Trails Day event, a trail-awareness program that celebrates the outdoor spirit and Colorado living. Breathe deep, take in some of the best views Castle Rock has to offer and love where you live!

KICKOFF PARTY FOR READERS
It’s time to kick off your children’s summer reading program with this party for “Readers at Play”. Register here for a variety of activities for kids of all ages. MISS PLUM’S BABY SHOWER!
Miss Plum had a heifer! The Colorado Agricultural Leadership Foundation invites you to celebrate the birth of Miss Plum’s baby at this fun farm-themed baby shower! With plenty of snacks and games, and selfie opportunities with an adorable baby heifer! Reservations are required!

funDUCKY DERBY IS BACK!
The Ducky Derby is an annual fundraiser to benefit local, regional and international Rotary Club charities, and Crystal Valley is thrilled to be a sponsor again this year! For your donation, a “rubber Ducky” assigned to you will be entered into the Derby Race. At the event, the mini-ducks will all be released at the same time into the water at the starting point on Plum Creek and race like crazy for the finish line! Don’t miss the Waddle Walk, face-painting booths, fantastic food, entertainment, bands, a bouncing safari house and slide, silent auction and much more!

SOUTH PACIFIC IN 3D
Narrated by Cate Blanchett, Journey to the South Pacific will take moviegoers on a breathtaking 3D adventure to the lush tropical islands of remote West Papua, where life flourishes above and below the sea. FOOD TRUCK FRENZY
It’s a food truck frenzy this weekend in Castle Pines. With 10 different food trucks offering delicious cuisine, wine, beer, live music, fun activities for the kids and much more, this dog-friendly event is a great time for friends and neighbors. Grab your lawn chairs and enjoy the festivities.

SUMMER SIPPER SOIREE
Sample dozens of rosé and white wines, chosen specifically for the almost-summer fundraiser. A fun, casual event to help you choose what your drinks of choice will be for the rest of the season. Tickets include all the wines and light appetizers and are purchased at Bubbles Liquor World. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Crisis Center, a nonprofit aimed at ending domestic violence.

funOUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT
It’s free movie night in downtown Castle Rock! The street fair starts at 6:00 p.m. with bounce houses, food and family activities and the Disney movie, Moana, will begin at dusk. The 2016 animated musical fantasy is about the strong-willed daughter of the chief of a Polynesian tribe, who sets sail for help when a blight strikes her island, in hopes of saving her people. Crystal Valley is the title sponsor of this event, and we hope you can join us!

40 YEARS OF BROADWAY
The Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale will be singing Broadway show tunes – 40 years’ worth – this weekend. Songs from Rent, Hair, The Wiz, Matilda, Hairspray, Pippin, Billy Elliot, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat and more!

LEGO® AMUSEMENT PARK
Get your ticket to ride with Bricks 4 Kidz®!
