Celebrate the summer season, and participate in a good cause with the Tunes for Trails / Perks for Parks free concert series. Throughout the summer, join the fun at the Amphitheater at Philip S. Miller Park. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy some time with the family before the show with yard games and bounce houses. Food and alcohol are available for purchase. While this is a free event, donations will be accepted for the Castle Rock Parks and Trails Foundation.
Tonight’s musical entrée is a nine-piece band that will likely get the event rocking with its full horn section. Diamond Empire musician perform with high energy with an emphasis on having fun and pride themselves on filling dance floors. Their repertoire ranges from Great Gatsby Extravaganzas to 90s Throwback Parties and everything in between.

WHISKY TASTING AT THE CASTLE

CAR SHOW WEEKEND
Kicking off the weekend with a Friday evening free concert. Participants can check out over 50 cars on display by members of The Vintage Car Club of Castle Rock. By 10 a.m. on Saturday the streets of historic Downtown are shut down and turned into a showplace for over 300 cars, trucks and specialty vehicles. The Classic Rock Car Show Weekend has something for everyone – cars, shops, live bands, food trucks, restaurants, free attractions for the kids, and a variety of vendor booths

PETRIFIED WOOD HIKE
This hike is short, but rugged, so come prepared with sturdy boots and plenty of water (difficulty is moderate and expected to take approximately 2.5 hours).
Hidden in our rugged backcountry lies Colorado’s largest Petrified Forest. After years of exploration and study, we are ready to share this unique natural wonder with you. Join our geology guides to see these ancient trees up close, examine the fossilized wood and learn about the fascinating process of petrification and our theories about the ancient river that deposited these trees here.
It’s an adventure made especially for those with a thirst for geology and fossils, but you needn’t be a paleontologist to sign up. There is something for everyone and anyone 12 or older is welcome. All hikes require shoes that protect your feet–sandals or shoes that do not cover your feet are not allowed. A minimum of 1 liter of water for every 2 hours of hiking is recommended as well as snacks for any hike over 2 hours. Most hikes are in open meadows and exposed slopes so hats and sunscreen are also highly recommended.

CELEBRATE SUPER DAD DAY
Head over to the Outlets in Castle Rock for some fun festivities to celelbrate all the super dads in your life. SUMMER CONCERT: RICK SPRINGFIELD
When you hear the name Rick Springfield, you probably think about “Jessie’s Girl.” In 1981, the song brought the Australian singer to international fame and is now remembered as one of the biggest hits of the decade. Springfield went on to have more success throughout the early ’80s with songs including “I’ve Done Everything for You” and “Don’t Talk to Strangers.” And at the same time that his music career was taking off, Springfield also became a successful actor, which is how you’re more likely to have come across him in recent years.
Springfield took some time off from releasing new albums throughout the ’90s but has been releasing music regularly since his 1999 album, Karma. His latest album is the self-titled The Red Locusts with the band of the same name. Bring a camping style chair, not a beach chair. CHRIS D’ELIA
Chris D’Elia has become one of the most in-demand performers in comedy. His highly successful podcast Congratulations With Chris D’elia has been a mainstay on iTunes’ comedy podcast charts since its debut in February 2017. As a stand-up comedian, D’Elia has toured the US and Canada.
