The 2023 Lowrider Super Show rolls into Colorado Springs on August 12 at The Broadmoor World Arena. Tickets, which are $39 plus applicable fees, are on sale now and are available online at AXS.com or in person at the Pikes Peak Center box office. Children 12 and under are free.

CHRIS JANSON WITH CHASE WRIGHT
Chris Janson is Platinum-selling high-octane entertainer, multi-instrumentalist, and award-winning singer/songwriter. 
In the five years since the release of his debut album, the three-time CMA nominee has collected prestigious accolades that place him amongst country music greats. He took home the trophy for ACM Video of the Year for his Gold-certified, inspiring hit song “Drunk Girl,” which also earned the Song of the Year title at the 2018 Music Row Awards and was named one of the “Ten Songs I Wish I’d Written” by NSAI. 

His chart-topping, triple-Platinum smash “Buy Me A Boat” earned the same NSAI honor, making him one in a handful of the industry’s most elite artists to earn the title multiple times, as well as the iHeartRadio Music Awards Country Song of the Year.

CHICAGO IN CONCERT
Hailed as one of the “most important bands in music since the dawn of the rock and roll era, the legendary rock and roll band with horns, Chicago, came in as the highest charting American band in Billboard Magazine’s Top 125 Artists Of All Time. And Chicago is the first American rock band to chart Top 40 albums in six consecutive decades.

Chicago released their 38th studio album,   in 2022, which included the hit single “If This is Goodbye”. The group has toured every year since the beginning – they’ve never missed a year.  The original three band members are Robert Lamm on keyboards and vocals, Lee Loughnane on trumpet and vocals and James Pankow on trombone. The band line-up also includes Wally Reyes, Jr. on drums, Tony Obrohta  on guitar, Loren Gold on keyboards and vocals, Ray Herrmann on sax and flute, Neil Donell on vocals, Eric Baines on bass and Ramon “Ray” Yslas on percussion.

From the signature sound of the Chicago horns, their iconic Vocalists, and a few dozen of ever-Classic Songs, this band’s concerts are celebrations.  2023 marks the band’s 56th consecutive year of touring! ANTHONY RODIA
Anthony Rodia is one of the hottest up-and-coming stand-up comedians in comedy. His comedy is refreshingly genuine, quick witted and TOTALLY RELATABLE!

WINE TASTING AT THE CASTLE
The sommelier, Mary Winkelmann, has chosen several different AVA’s (American Viticultural Areas or wine grape-growing regions) from the Golden State of California and the Castle staff are extremely excited to share these amazing wines with guests. 

August is beautiful time to see the castle and enjoy an entertaining /educational event and a nice glass of wine. Charcuterie appetizers will accompany your tasting. GUIDED BACKCOUNTRY HIKE

You’ll visit the largest petrified woods in the state of Colorado, climb to the highest point on this pristine land, and loop through some of the more remote and fascinating parts of the Ranch not available to public visitors. Rating: Difficult – Sustained hiking off trail for over 4 miles (Approximately 4 hours) ***This hike is for experienced hikers that are in good physical condition. We recommend that you wear long pants and have good hiking shoes or boots, bring at least two liters of water. Signed Land Liability Forms are Required for ALL Land Events

GUIDED GEOLOGY HIKE
This hike focuses on interpreting the beautiful landscape of Cherokee Ranch. The hike goes over Raccoon Knob and Cherokee Mountain. Participants will learn how to interpret the sedimentary layers and decode the past. Massive floods, deadly volcanic eruptions, and the flood plain of an ancient river containing trees are just some of the amazing geology. Hike rating: Moderate – Climb Raccoon Knob and Cherokee Mt. (Approximately 2.5 hours) Reservations include access to Cherokee Land for the hike. Must be 12 years or older. Please bring sunscreen, a water bottle and come in proper hiking attire, including closed-toe shoes or boots. Long pants are recommended. Signed Land Liability Forms are Required for ALL Land Events

TWENTY HANDS HIGH AT THE CASTLE

Come to the Castle for an exciting night of live music performed by the Country and Southern Rock band, Twenty Hands High. BACKYARD BEATS, SOUTHERN STREET EATS
Come north a bit to Lone Tree to close out the summer and savor the flavors of Colorado with a Southern twist! This year’s event features a mouth-watering selection of your favorite dishes from south of the Colorado border while adding in touches of Colorado’s famous Palisade peaches and Olathe corn.

ART GALLERY RECEPTION
The PACE Center Gallery is hosting an art reception celebrating the “Oh Honey! The World of Encaustic Art” exhibit, which includes a collection of encaustic artworks created by artists, Victoria Eubanks, Mario Montanari, Jane Guthridge, Patricia Aaron, and Kathy Fisher. Each masterpiece tells a compelling tale and captures the essence of this ancient yet contemporary art form.

CARLOS MENCIA
Comedian Carlos Mencia is best known for his raw and unfiltered style of comedy, which he has showcased to great success on comedy stages, and in TV shows and movies. He has recently gone back to his comedic roots on his No Hate No Fear comedy tour, sharing his newest material with smaller, more intimate audiences. As a comedian who finds the hilarious irony in both the day-to-day and the newsworthy events, Carlos is never lacking in material; he recently shot two stand-up specials due out later this year. Carlos will also reprise his role as Felix Boulevardez in Disney+’s The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, the revival of the groundbreaking animated series The Proud Family. The show is heading into its second season.

After he found success on the Los Angeles comedy circuit, Mencia was named International Comedy Grand Champion from Buscando Estrellas (the Latin version of Star Search), eventually landing on shows such as In Living ColorThe Arsenio Hall Show, and An Evening at the Improv. Later, Mencia went on to star on the big screen. He starred opposite Ben Stiller and Michelle Monaghan in The Heartbreak Kid, and in the family-comedy Our Family Wedding, alongside America Ferrara and Forrest Whitaker.

Join the rest of your automobile aficionados at this charity event to benefit the Wellspring Community. Polish up that car, truck or motorcycle and bring it over to add to the items for car fans to oooh and ahhh and ogle over. Not only is this event benefitting a worthy cause, there will be awards handed out for several categories including Judges’ Choice, Participants’ Choice, Sponsors’ Choice Best of Show. Plus lots of other surprises. There is no pre-registration and no fee for the show (we do suggest a $30 donation to Wellspring Community). TOUCH A TRUCK
Castle Rock Police Department invites you to sit in the driver’s seat and explore the many vehicles that serve our community. PAULA POUNDSTONE
Iconic comedian Paula Poundstone is known for her smart, observational humor and legendary spontaneous wit. Paula is the star of several HBO specials, including Cats, Cops and Stuff, and Paula Poundstone Goes to Harvard. Paula is a regular panelist on NPR’s comedy news quiz, Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! She is heard weekly on her successful comedy podcast. Nobody Listens to Paula Poundstone.

Also, an author, Paula’s second book, The Totally Unscientific Study Of The Search For Human Happiness (Algonquin), was one of eight semi-finalists for The Thurber Prize for American Humor, the highest recognition of the art of humor writing in the United States. The audiobook was one of five finalists in all genres for the Audio Book of the Year AUDIE award.

Paula was the first female comic in its then 73rd year to perform standup at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Her HBO special, Cats, Cops and Stuff, marked the first time a female comedian won Best Comedy Special in the then 5th year of the Cable Ace Awards. Paula’s awards and accolades make a long list, and she is included in innumerable documentaries and literary compendiums noting influential comedians of our time.
