DISCOVERIES IN THE ROCK(S)
Join presenter John McKinney, a founding member of the Cherokee Ranch Science Institute (CRSI) as he shares 20 years of exploring and studying Cherokee Ranch. In a casual evening setting John will present research highlights on the geology and paleontology gained over the last 15 years. He will highlight the endeavors of Dr. Al Koch, who, as a retired geologist, helped form the Cherokee Ranch Science Institute in 2013 and was its director until his passing in 2019. John will also highlight the work of other citizen scientist collaborators. This presentation is a rich mixture of photos and stories that will expand your knowledge of the 3400-acre ranch and will include a Q&A session.

MOMS UNHINGED

DARRELL HAMMOND
Darrell Hammond holds the title for being the longest running cast member on Saturday Night Live. The actor and comedian has brought to life a cavalcade of politicians, media figures, celebrities and newsmakers on television through his impressions. Amongst the great number of people he has mimicked include Bill Clinton, Sean Connery, Regis Philbin, John Travolta, Jay Leno and Donald Trump. Darrell is known for being one of the most prolific comedians of his time.

In addition to his SNL appearances, Hammond has been seen in a number of feature films and television shows. As a truly versatile actor Darrell has displayed his talents in both dramatic and comedic roles. He has appeared in the TBS comedy series Are We There Yet?, on the acclaimed F/X series Damages, and on the Law and Order franchise. Some of his feature films include Weiners, New York Minute, as well as Scary Movie 3 and Scary Movie 6.

Travel to the wintry world of Arendelle and sing along with Elsa as video projection creates a kaleidoscope of crystals to help build her ice palace.

Witness Belle lift into the sky as the enchanted chandelier comes to life high over the ice.  Demonstrate the power of teamwork when Buzz Lightyear, Woody and Jessie recruit the Green Army Men for a daring rescue in Andy’s room.  Laugh hysterically as the hilarious pirates flip, tumble, and twist on tumble tracks, stilts and more in an effort to showcase their talents for Captain Hook. Sail away with Moana on her daring voyage across the ocean and bravely encounter the fiery wrath of Te Ka.  And make memories with your whole family during Aladdin and The Little Mermaid as the search party becomes an all-out magical celebration.

KT TUNSTALL
KT Tunstall burst onto the music scene with her 2004 multi-platinum debut, Eye to the Telescope, which spawned the global hits “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” and “Suddenly I See.” These  songs established Tunstall as a captivating, must-see performer, as well as a Songwriter with a singular knack for balancing introspective folk and propulsive rock. “I feel there are two immediate, recognizable pillars of my style,” she says. “I have this troubadour, acoustic guitar-driven emotional side. BODY TRAFFIC

In pursuit of the most challenging, original, and diverse choreography in the field, Los Angeles-based BODYTRAFFIC has made waves from coast-to-coast with its far-reaching appeal. Artistic Director Tina Finkelman Berkett leads a masterful troupe, all nimble interpreters of each choreographers’ distinct vision, with fun choreography set to classic music by the likes of Peggy Lee and James Brown. They’re energetic and talented – their athleticism is amazing and their enthusiasm is contagious.

DOKTOR KABOOM: LOOKOUT!
Normally in science, if you hear a KABOOM, it means trouble… but not for Doktor Kaboom! Creatively blending theater arts with the wonders of scientific exploration, Doktor Kaboom! keeps his crowds riveted with interest and rolling with laughter. Using masterful improvisational skills, he takes his audience on a sidesplitting tour of the modern scientific method while demonstrating spectacular applications of the physical sciences.

Topics covered include: safety; pressure and force; simple machines; velocity; application of science to everyday life; the scientific method (hypothesis and experimentation); multiple experimentation; constant discovery of new information and data; definitions: chemical reactions, exothermic, external and chemical formula; mass; air pressure and demonstration vs. experimentation.

MADAM CURIE
Born in Warsaw, Poland in 1867, Maria Sklodowska would become one of the greatest scientists of her era. After emigrating to France, Marie (as she was known there) would work with and eventually marry another scientist, Pierre Curie, with whom she would be awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for their research on radioactivity. Over a decade later, she would be awarded a second Nobel Prize for discovering the elements radium and polonium (named for her country of birth). Join Active Minds as they examine the remarkable life of Marie Curie.

When Curb Records recording artist, Lee Brice, isn’t selling out arenas, writing and recording songs, or building new brands like American Born whiskey, you’ll find the family man with his wife Sara, two young boys, and daughter. FRIDAY NIGHT JAZZ: 60s & 70s HITMAKERS
This evening features the hitmakers from the 1960s and the 1970s including Carole King and James Taylor. Tapestry was a seminal album for Carole King, offering up nothing but hits, and she was originally James Taylor’s composer until he coaxed her onto the stage. The rest is history. Many of their collaborations along with the music of Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, and others will be heard in this wonderful evening of famous hits.

Vocalist Marion Powers will be featured along with the Colorado Jazz Reperatory Orchestra Ensemble.

WHISKEY TASTING
Irish Whiskey Tasting of epic proportions, with live skilled bagpiping, kilts and a toast to the magic of the Emerald Isle on Cherokee Ranch and Castle’s beautiful grounds. COMEDY ZONE MARCH
Headliner Alex Hooper is a stand-up comedian, actor, and all-around magical sprite. He delights crowds by blending dark humor with silly positivity. On stage he bursts with energy with comedy that is both is clever and fearless. Alex shines just like his sparkly wardrobe and has headlined clubs all over the world. Whether it’s an audience of 11 or 11,000, Alex leaves comedy-goers begging for more. He is best known as the America’s Got Talent comedian who infamously roasted the judging panel in 2018.  He’s the only contestant ever to get a “yes” from Simon Cowell and a “no” from the rest of the judges. His audition went viral and in 2020 he was invited back again, this time making it all the way to the live shows. He’s been seen in sitcoms, commercials, and walking on tightropes in the park.

Korey David is A stand-up comedian and actor based in Denver. This psychedelic loving ex-Mormon works out his angst on stage from growing up as the black sheep in an ultraconservative household.

SUNRISE SERVICE: HAPPY EASTER!
He is risen! Join the early birds among Castle Rock’s faithful at Daniel’s Park (New Hope Church) or Butterfield Park (Meadows Church) or later at both churches, plus the Douglas County Fairgrounds and Event Center (Front Range Church). 

Since Daniel’s Park does not take reservations before the month of May, so it’s first come first served. Meet at the Wildcat Picnic Area (map). There may be more than one church meeting there, and New Hope will go further down the road toward the green circle.

Easter is also a bit early this year, which means weather could be a factor. If it snows or rains, it will be too muddy at Daniel’s Park to meet. Sign up for text message alerts to know if the New Hope sunrise service may be cancelled due to weather. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at the New Hope Church during Sunday School. 

And Front Range Church is holding an Easter Service at the Douglas County Events Center at 10:00 a.m. So if you miss one, you can catch the other at 500 Fairgrounds Rd., in Castle Rock!
