The nights are heating up and outdoor performance venues are booking up! This weekend, choose from stand- up comedians, movies and live music under the stars, so much great outdoor entertainment! There’s never a shortage of things to do near the master-planned community of Crystal Valley!

ART STOP ON THE GO!
Calling all budding artists, aged 6 to 12! Time to cultivate your inner Picasso with art guides from the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art who will present a book for the kids to enjoy, then lead them in a literature-based art project. Registration required.

SKATE NIGHT!
Grab some friends and bring your roller skates or blades to the Parker Fieldhouse on for Skate Night! Participants can skate around the inline rink, listen to family-friendly music and play games. This is a time designated for open skating for all ages. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult while at the Fieldhouse. Participants must bring their own skates.

performanceTHE GOONIES IN CONCERT
Based in Boulder, The Goonies are a four-piece rock band that will blow you away at this Tunes for Trails concert with their grinding guitar solos and retro sound. This cover band will perform hits from some of the hottest bands from the 80s including Journey, Billy Idol, Cyndi Lauper, Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden, Pat Benetar and Queen.

CHRIS DANIELS CONCERT!
performanceThe Discovery Park Concert Series is back with a performance by a seven-piece band, playing funky-blues, great R&B, and rock n’ roll. Chris Daniels is not related to Charlie or Jack — though he is often asked that question. He started out as a 17-year-old songwriter and guitarist back in the 70s, and has performed thousands of shows over the last 25 years, touring 40 out of every 52 weeks with his band, Chris Daniels & the Kings. The band has been compared to Little Feat, Tower of Power and “Keb Mo with horns.”

performanceHAPPY HOUR STAND-UP
The featured comic this weekend at the Fine Arts Center is Allan Goodwin, one of the funniest and most-respected comics on the circuit today, who brings the laughter to any room, anywhere, anytime. Al’s performances include the comedy show LAUGHS on FOX, plus he was a finalist in the 2014 World Series of Comedy. He also represented the East Coast in Las Vegas in HBO’s Lucky 21 Comedy Contest. You can catch Al in the fourth season of House of Cards.

Saturday, July 8

LADIES ONLY BIKE RACE
The Tour de Ladies women-only cycling event returns to Douglas County to empower women through power pedaling and encouraging them to be physically active, train for the event, and participate at the level they feel comfortable. The event will benefit a women’s organization, as well, the Crisis Center. The route, which will be fully supported with “men in skirts” to help change flat tires and provide other on-course assistance. With aid stations, the ride features the option of a 13-mile ride (new), 30 miles and a 62.5-mile ride. The Tour de Ladies welcomes women who are new to cycling and those who ride regularly.

TUNES ON THE TERRACE
Enjoy a summer night under the stars with Tunes on the Terrace at the Lone Tree Arts Center. Fresh off their incredible performance of The Who’s Tommy here, the HillBenders return with their own bluegrass music. The group is one of the few bluegrass groups that selects material that defies hillbilly stigmas. With their many varied influences, they bring to bluegrass songs that appeal to a wide audience

LONE TREE FREEDOM RUN
Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. has announced the first Lone Tree Freedom Race, a 3-mile foot race designed to benefit three nonprofit organizations that serve military veterans and their families. The event will also feature a live band and local retailers who will provide refreshments. Commemorative t-shirts will be provided to all runners.

YOUTH FOOTBALL CAMP
This unique, elite three-day youth football camp experience features a 15 to 1 ratio of actual NFL players coaching young players ages 7 to 14. The non-profit organization brings together pro athletes to teach football and athletic skills, character and leadership skills to kids, and will help each camp participant become the very best athlete and person he/she can be on and off the field. Pro Football Camp has hosted this event in the Colorado Springs area for 10 years, and is the only Colorado camp with professional athletes coaching children with a price point under $200.

performanceHAIRY AND HILARIOUS
The Zoology Foundation’s Hairy & Hilarious Fundraiser is a night full of a comedy performance and a love for animals. Comedian Bryan Kellen is headlining the event and several Zoology Foundation animals will be in attendance. The event raises funds to build a new fence for the foundation’s dromedary camels.

ARTS IN THE AFTERNOON
Amazing, talented singers perform highlights from the beloved musical, Les Misérables. Much more than a concert version of Les Misérables, this compelling performance incorporated Victor Hugo’s prose and brings to life the world of Jean Valjean, as well as other characters in the musical. Arts in the afternoon is a series of weekday afternoon concerts and performances with refreshments provided after the event.
