FUN HOME – AN AWARD-WINNING MUSICAL

SERVING THE BLUE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
How to pick a side when the Douglas County Police Officers are up against the SkyView Academy students and teachers? Come for this friendly but spirited volleyball tournament between the pros and the rookies, all for a great cause! All of the proceeds will go to the Highlands Ranch Law Enforcement Training Foundation, which provides training for Law Enforcement organizations across Colorado. Make an evening of it with concessions like hot dogs, nachos, soda, popcorn, and candy! Tickets will be sold at the door, with a donation box nearby if you’d like to donate above and beyond for our police officers. Sheriff Tony Spurlock is planning to attend and would love to chat about the importance of law enforcement training!

FRIDAY NIGHT JAZZ – CHARLIE PARKER WITH STRINGS
Here’s a secret that jazz aficionados share: there isn’t a more relaxing and engaging way to spend a Friday evening than kicking back and grooving with a really great jazz band! And with the always-excellent Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra on stage, you know it will be a night to remember! As Colorado’s best ensemble performing classic big band and modern jazz, the CJRO regularly sells out its concerts all over the Denver Metro area.
This performance is all about Charlie Parker, one of the most virtuosic and innovative saxophonists of the bebop era. Musicians of the CJRO, combined with string players from the Parker Symphony Orchestra, pay tribute to the jazz genius and some of his most influential recordings. To top it off, jazz vocalist Heidi Schmidt will also be joining CJRO to perform such bebop-era tunes as How High the Moon, I’m Old Fashioned, and Tea for Two.

SHINE BRIGHT – A DANCE PERFORMANCE THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Every year, the Colorado School of Dance pairs up with the Children’s Hospital Colorado to present a very special show, Dance for a Difference. This year’s theme is Shine Bright, featuring Becca, the Make-A-Wish spokesperson and dancer from Parker. The show is all about making a difference in the lives of children who are afflicted by health struggles. Dance for a Difference is a platform for local children, ages 5 to 18, to make a real difference in their communities and gather support for the Children’s Hospital.
This year the matinee show will feature future dance stars who take just one class a week from the dance school, with the evening show featuring the more seasoned dancers of Colorado School of Dance’s Artistic Performance Company. All ticket proceeds go to the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation.

CHAMBER MUSIC CONCERT – TCHAIKOVSKY IN FLORENCE
Florence had sparked the great Russian composer’s imagination many times, but none more than Tchaikovsky’s last holiday to the golden city. Suffering from a bad case of writer’s block, Tchaikovsky had a breakthrough as he composed what would be his final piece of chamber music, Souvenir de Florence, and the trip also provided a draft of the entirety of his opera, The Queen of Spades.
The Chamber Music Series presented by the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music proves you don’t need a full orchestra to enjoy the masterpieces of classical music. Featuring small ensembles performing majestic pieces, each concert showcases DU music students, whose talent rivals that of any career classical musician.
