BRAZILIAN AND LATIN JAZZ
Featuring some of Colorado’s finest jazz musicians, this Friday-night jam session is a perfect opportunity for music lovers to enjoy an evening out with friends. So sit back, relax, and take in the CJRO’s Sextet’s Brazilian and Latin favorites, recreating the Bossa Nova craze made popular by Stan Getz and Dizzy Gillespie.

HAUNTING…MUSIC
Garrison Keillor praised the popularity of The Haunted Windchimes a very traditional folk and blues group with a timeless vintage quality. The music could have been written yesterday or 75 years ago. According to fans and critics, the sound is often moody and melancholy, but always deeply affecting.

PRESENTING NATURE’S BEST
Colorado’s preeminent nature photographer has photographed the state’s most awe-inspiring federal lands for over 40 years. In this original presentation, John Fielder presents its National Parks & Monuments to mark the 100th anniversary of America’s National Park Service. He has captured the thousand-foot deep canyons of the Colorado, Yampa, Green, Arkansas, and Gunnison Rivers, to the cliff dwellings and castles of early Native Americans. John will provide commentary about the challenges and techniques of wilderness photography. Enjoy a music “soundtrack” and refreshments, too.

30 PLAYS IN 60 MINUTES!
It first opened in 1988 and is still playing today as the longest-running show in Chicago history, Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind, This raucous ensemble experiment presents “30 Plays in 60 Minutes,” with each two-minute play performed in random order with an interactive audience. An onstage 60-minute timer keeps everyone honest. This is a witty collection of comic, tragic, political, personal and abstract plays. Ready, set, GO!

GET LOST IN THE MAZE!
Wind your way through the eight-acre Corn Maze at the Denver Botanic Gardens’ Chatfield Farms and help Farmer Green find his lost animals! Life-size animal cutouts are hidden throughout the maze for fun photo ops with kids age 10 and under. The maze is easily viewed from two 15-foot tall illuminated bridges as youngsters explore. Tickets include a hayride, barrel train ride (for children 12 and under) and unlimited jumping on a giant pillow. Pony rides are available for an additional fee. Food vendors will be selling your favorite fall foods: funnel cakes, hotdogs, freshly squeezed lemonade and kettle corn.

PANCAKES FOR HEROES
Detective Dan Brite of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department was shot in the line of duty serving his community last month. Kiwanis Club of Castle Rock (KCCR) and Douglas County Colorado Elks Lodge No. 2873 (Elks) will be hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser for the family of Detective Brite and families of other fallen officers. The Elks Facebook page has more information about the event.

CEMETERY TOUR
Take a leisurely walk through historic grave markers in Cedar Hill Cemetery, and meet Castle Rock High School actors dressed up as pioneers who were part of Castle Rock’s early history! Cedar Hill was founded in 1875 and is the only cemetery in Castle Rock. Refreshments will be served following the tour.

WHERE’S WALDO? RUNNING!
Join the fifth annual Waldo Waldo 5K in downtown Colorado Springs!

Thousands will take to the streets in this family-friendly 5K walk and fun run fundraiser. Registration comes with a Waldo or Wenda costume kit (characters from the popular Where’s Waldo? children’s books) and the money raised benefits local nonprofits in the surrounding community. Food trucks, a beer garden, exhibitors and music will be waiting for every one who participates! Find out more at:

A GOTHIC FOLKTALE
A cross between contemporary ballet and a folk-rock score, Wonderbound: A Gothic Folktale is a circus-themed production that kicks off the company’s new season.
