THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY
While this sweeping romance was first created as a best-selling novel and later provided an Academy Award nomination for Meryl Streep, there’s nothing like seeing this poignant story live on stage. The award-winning creative team of Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years, Parade, Songs for a New World) and Marsha Norman captured the lyrical essence of the story with music that won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Score and Orchestrations.

It’s the story of Francesca Johnson, a beautiful Italian woman who married an American soldier to flee war-ravaged Italy. When the play opens, Francesca’s family has just departed for the 1965 Iowa State Fair, leaving her to a rare four days alone at the family farm. When a handsome National Geographic photographer stops by for directions, Francesca’s life takes a drastic turn, encompassed in the eternal question, “What if…?”

FRIDAY NIGHT JAZZ IN PARKER
Celebrate Friday night at Parker’s very own Jazz Club, located in the newly-renovated Schoolhouse Theatre! With an intimate space that mixes classic and contemporary styles, it’s the perfect venue to sit back and enjoy an evening of jazz!

The Friday Night Jazz Series features some of Colorado’s finest jazz musicians, paying tribute to acclaimed jazz vocalist Nancy Wilson. Back in 1962, Wilson recorded what would become known as her finest album with the Cannonball Adderley Quintet. Vocalist Heidi Schmidt and the CJRO Sextet recreate the magic!

AN ACROBATIC ADVENTURE
The New York Times calls this circus act, not only “exciting and fun,” but “beautiful” as well. And it’s a story with a rich narrative, too, with an incredible original soundtrack and an award-winning cast, not to mention high-flying technical elements.

The entire family will be mesmerized by the story of the benevolent White Queen of Aureum who has just given birth to royal twins. Immediately, the evil Red Empress hatches a plan to kidnap one of the twins, setting the tale in motion. Aureum is part of a new genre in theater known as theatrical acrobatics, which seamlessly integrates compelling storytelling and characters with world-class acrobatics and aerial.

GEORGE LOPEZ ON STAGE
If you were a fan of the hilarious and groundbreaking TV sitcom, George Lopez, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to see the man himself on stage! Lopez was also the star of the comedy series, Lopez, which ran on TV-Land for two seasons, as well as the TBS late-night talk show, Lopez Tonight.

SPAGHETTI DINNER AND FUNDRAISER
What has become well-known as one of the most delicious and fun community events in Castle Rock is also the year’s biggest fundraising event for Praying Hands Ranch’s mission of changing lives, healing bodies and spirits, and manifesting miracles. 

The Sweetheart Spaghetti Dinner is a family-friendly event featuring an authentic Italian dinner catered by Flying Horse Catering, live music with Dr. Jerry Galloway, a live auction with Don Martin, as well as a silent auction, dancing, face painting, and a kids’ bouncy house! Donations of auction items and donations to support this worthwhile organization are welcome. This is always a great community night of fellowship and fun! ADULT GLOW-IN-THE-DARK YOGA 
You’ve never experienced yoga quite like this! The mellow, fluid movements of vinyasa flow are emphasized in a unique way, as your neon yoga clothes and special neon body paint are accentuated by a black light in near darkness. A special playlist pulses with the energy of the black lights, making you more cognizant of your surroundings—your brain relies on heightened awareness from senses other than vision to process sensory information in order to stay balanced.

COWBOY COMEDY
Parker’s intimate downtown venue turns into a comedy club for an evening of laughs with Brandt Tobler, a stand-up comedian originally from Cheyenne. His brand of humor is marked with a regional twang, as can be heard on his two comedy CDs, Ramblin’ and Gamblin’ and Token White Boy. Brandt has performed overseas for our troops and has been featured on Comedy Central, Fox, and ESPN. His best-selling memoir, Free Roll, was released in the summer of 2017.

MOZART, TCHAIKOVSKY—AND A PREMIERE!
Among the most beloved and well-known classical composers, Mozart and Tchaikovsky are always audience favorites! This program by the Colorado Springs Philharmonic opens with the American premiere of contemporary Finnish composer Cecilia Damström’s Tundo!  “Tundo” is the Latin word for “knock,” and her passionate piece is a cry for help on behalf of refugees all over the world.

Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 round out the evening. Don’t miss the informative preconcert lecture one hour prior to the performance!

THE SANDMAN BALLET
Mixing up all kinds of genres, The Sandman is a “newfangled Western” ballet, with original sultry music inspired by the song Santa Maria from Gas Pop’s 2017 album Resurrection. The always-creative artists from dance troupe Wonderbound have collaborated with Gasoline Lollipops’ frontman Clay Rose to bring to life a world full of complex, fragile characters in a heart-wrenching story, all beautifully choreographed by Wonderbound Artistic Director, Garrett Ammon.

You’ll feel as if you’ve entered an Old West saloon, with sawdust on the floors and the stale scent of whiskey in the air. Ultimately, this is a story of redemption, a story of love. You won’t be the same after watching it.

CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH
This FREE family-friendly event celebrates Black History Month in a multitude of ways! There will be live musical performances by the DSA Youth Jazz Ensemble and the Stafford Hunter Jazz Quartet, and the Black American West Museum will also be providing entertainment. The PACE Center’s groundbreaking art exhibit, When Will They See Us? features black women artists Tya Anthony, Rochelle Johnson, Autumn Thomas, Ella Maria Ray, and Brigitte Thomas, and comedian Sam Adams will make a special appearance.

At 4:00 p.m., you won’t want to miss the screening of Akeelah and the Bee, an inspirational film about an 11-year-old girl with a gift for words from South Los Angeles who participates in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Popcorn is provided! Food will also be available for purchase from Big Jim’s Barbeque.
