Fun, Safe Drive-In Entertainment!
Drive-in theaters are opening up all over the world, thanks to COVID-19. In the U.K., they call them “Safe Cinema.” The Crystal Valley area has some, too, including Parker’s Drive-In Events that move beyond movies and offer live entertainment from the safety of your car! Just be sure to register in advance, then bring the family to the drive-in event of your choice, where audio is piped in through your radio.

VIRTUAL WHISKEY MASTERCLASS
When the pandemic summer is over and you’re reflecting on all the new things you learned online, surely whiskey-tasting will be at the top of your brag list! You don’t need to attend an in-person tasting in order to learn about how the recipe and origin of Westland Whiskey’s American Oak, Sherry Wood, and Peated express themselves. Join in on Zoom for a live tasting through their range, and learn about the future of whiskey in the USA!

TITONIC IN THE MEADOWS
One of the only free outdoor concert series running this summer is right here in Castle Rock! This week, get ready to jam to the area’s favorite funk/soul/R&B band, TItonic!

SAFE CINEMA: A DOG’S JOURNEY
This endearing family movie starring the many incarnations of a dog named Bailey demonstrates it’s not only cats that have nine lives. You’ll follow the soul of this devoted dog through adventures and new friendships, all on a quest to find his original owners and protect them at all costs.
A Dog’s Journey will be screened at dusk for a limited number of cars at this pop-up drive-in movie venue in Centennial. Sign up for your tickets in advance, and then bring the family out to a good old-fashioned movie event!

SUNSET HIKE NEAR HOME
One of the best things about living in Crystal Valley is the nearby access to the Backcountry Wilderness Area. This guided tour takes place as the sun is setting, with all of the magnificent views of the Rocky Mountain Front Range—and without a crowd! Learn about the landscape and wildlife as you take in the awesome vistas. COVID-19 safety practices will be in place!

ENJOY STORY TIME IN NATURE
Everyone wants to get out in nature right now—and what better way than to let the kids hear an imaginative story at the same time? The entire family will enjoy the backcountry, while little ones (ages 3-6) will be enthralled to hear a great story as well! Each child will attend the event with his or her own adult nearby to participate and facilitate safe physical distancing.
There will also be barnyard animals to meet and an exploration activity in this one-hour program. COVID-19 precautions will be in place with a lower number of attendees and a requirement to wear face masks.

GOLF CART TOUR
Take in the sights of the backcountry around the Fountain Valley Trail of Roxborough State Park while conveniently riding in a five-passenger electric golf cart. Reservations are required for all rides. All children must be accompanied by an adult and small children must be in a car seat (not provided).
Groups are limited to members of the same household. You must wear a mask. If you cannot or choose not to wear a mask, please wait until the restrictions are lifted to sign up for an event.

HIKE THROUGH PETRIFIED FOREST
Geology buffs and fossil freaks will love this guided hike through Colorado’s largest Petrified Forest! It’s short but rugged, so come prepared with sturdy boots and plenty of water. Your expert geology guide will point out these ancient trees up close and tell you how to examine the fossilized wood so you can learn the fascinating process of petrification and the theories about the ancient river that deposited these trees here.
This hike is intended for ages 12 and older. You must wear shoes that cover your feet and you need to bring your own water and snacks to sustain you through a vigorous 2-1/2 hour hike. You’ll be in a range of open meadows and exposed slopes, so hats and sunscreen are also highly recommended.

For comedy fans, there is no substitute for the energy and high-jinx performances of a live improv comedy show. This week, the Parker Players return with a LIVE performance, taking all the COVID-19 precautions to make it a safe event!

PADDLE BOARD AT THE RESERVOIR
The Colorado SUP Sports Program has been leading the paddlesports movement at Rueter-Hess Reservoir for the last four years. Stand-Up Paddle-boards (SUPs) are rented for two hours, and you must register in advance.
