Pioneer Days Comes to You!

Be a pioneer in your own home when Highlands Ranch brings their biggest field trip of the school year to you! The popular Pioneer Days enjoyed by elementary school children throughout the area will be held online this year, and it’s sure to be an engaging way for the kids to spend the day. Virtual visits to special locations in the area will bring history to life.

TODAY/TONIGHT, September 24

ONLINE PIONEER DAYS
Kids will be 21st-century pioneers when they participate in the epic online version of Highlands Ranch Pioneer Days! The field trip will be coming into your home over your computer screen, but all of the exciting events will still be taking place. The area’s best educators will be presenting, including Nature’s Educators, Native American Dancers, Trapper Johnny, and more! 

There will be virtual visits to Children’s Hospital Garden and Farm, a Highlands Ranch Mansion tour, a Colorado Railroad Museum train tour, and a presentation at the Highlands Ranch Backcountry Wilderness. The Living History Teacher will show you how to make corn husk dolls, and there will even be an appearance by Abraham Lincoln! MASTERS OF ILLUSION
You won’t believe your eyes when you witness the impossible feats of the great illusionists John Shryock and Mari Lynn! This family-friendly magic show has traveled all around the world, with stops at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas and on television’s Masters of Illusions. Now they will be performing their spellbinding magic show in Castle Rock for a reduced-capacity audience in order to observe social-distancing.

HISTORY NATURE WALK
High Line Canal in Highlands Ranch is the focal point of this family-friendly nature walk that highlights local history. You’ll start at Fly’n B Park, “the best little cattle ranch in Colorado,” and walk with a certified interpretive guide for the High Line Canal Conservancy. You’ll be helping to support their mission to preserve, protect, and enhance this favorite green space of Highlands Ranch!

HARRY POTTER AT THE DRIVE-IN
Don’t miss your chance to see Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 on the big screen! This is the continuation of Harry, Ron and Hermione’s quest to vanquish the evil Voldemort once and for all. Drive-ins are still the best way to watch a movie in 2020!

CHATFIELD FARMS CORN MAZE
As the second location of Denver Botanic Gardens, Chatfield Farms pays special attention to all things growing! You’ll come for the corn maze—everyone’s favorite fall event—but you’ll also enjoy the festive fall look the Farms take on in the autumn. To keep the capacity within requirements, an ticket must be purchased in advance with a specific date and time.

Social distancing and mask-wearing are required.

COMMUNITY TRUNK SALE
Spend a morning looking for buried treasure! The Highlands Ranch Community Trunk Sale is like a huge garage sale in a parking lot, so there will be plenty of open space and fresh air for social distancing. Vendors, crafters, artists, and neighbors who had enough stuff to rent a booth will be presenting their wares and old treasures. There’s sure to be something for everyone!

FALL CRAFT FAIR
Looking for a unique handmade craft for a gift? With the holidays rapidly approaching, you can do some early Christmas shopping or get a head-start on decorations. The Local Handmade Crafters & Vendors Fair will have booths both indoors and outdoors. Social distancing measures will be in place and masks are required.

BOY BAND PROJECT IN CONCERT
It’s all your favorite boy bands rolled into one! This hugely popular cover group from NYC takes all your favorite music from *NSYNC, the Backstreet Boys, Hanson, O-Town, One Direction, Boyz II Men, The Four Seasons and more, and expertly reimagines the phenomenon of this special genre as they perform as the Boy Band Project.

The PACE Center’s indoor shows have very limited seating, so this performance is also available in an online streaming show! A Streaming Link (Vimeo) and access password will be emailed to purchasers prior to the performance.

FALL AT FLAT ACRES FARM

This festive way to celebrate autumn is bound to be a family favorite! Kids will love the newly-expanded petting zoo, featuring farm animals like a draft horse, mule, mini-horse, cow, chickens, sheep, goats, and turkeys. 

They’ll love the duck races, a hay-bale maze with an obstacle course, bounce houses, a tractor-pulled hay ride, and more! Activities are geared towards kids ages 10 and younger, but older kids and adults may want to check out the pumpkin patch for the perfect jack-o-lantern! There’s also a regular corn maze for humans who are taller than a hay bale.

PARKER FARMERS’ MARKET
Fall has come to the Farmers’ Market, and you will certainly be able to find pumpkin-themed everything when you shop in Parker this Sunday morning! Bring plenty of bags because there will also be an abundance of local vegetables and fruits, delicious homemade foods, plants and flowers, and much more!
