Romantic Dinners at Home
If you’re planning on staying IN this Valentine’s Day, here are some ideas for preparing (or ordering!) the perfect romantic dinner at home.
One of our favorite go-to sites for recipes anyone can cook is The Kitchn, and they didn’t disappoint us with 23 romantic dinners to make for someone you love. We gravitated to the Gnocchi Skillet with Chicken Sausage, but the Parmesan Risotto with Roasted Shrimp looked like a sweetheart of a meal, too. With lots of how-to tutorials, almost everything looked do-able for a romantic dinner for two.
Jamie Oliver has assembled meals ranging from a 15-minute super easy Monkfish (sweet flavor, similar to lobster) with Spinach and Feta meal and quick-ish Honey Fool dessert. Or you could spend 35 minutes on some Love Dumplings with prawns and chili sauce that he claims are “not too tricky,” or 45 minutes on Chicken Milanese with Spaghetti – your choice.
If you’re ever going to make a leg or lamb or a mouth-watering steak, it’s probably going to be for an amorous dinner. And, really, neither is that complicated – if you use these go-to romantic recipes from Brown Table and Diethood.
Erin, the well-loved food blogger at Well-Plated ,collected 15 romantic recipes for Valentine’s Day including Engagement Chicken Pasta to Pink Peppercorn Sherry Cream Chicken (which only takes 30 minutes!).
And then there’s Epicurious, ever the gold standard in cool cuisine, with this 15-minute to-drool-for Scallops with Herbed Brown Butter recipe for your dearest. Or, there are these pan-seared Lamb Chops with Dried Cherries and Port. For all their decadent deliciousness, you’ll want to pick these up and eat ‘em with your hands!
What’s for Dessert?
You could dress up rice cereal marshmallow hearts with frosting, pretzels, peanut butter and chocolate, but the occasion really calls for Red Velvet Cheesecake, don’t you think? Or, if you’re short on time because – hey – Valentine’s Day falls in the middle of the week – Tinted Angel Cake with White Chocolate curls.
EATING IN
If creating a love-feast seems overwhelming, or just plain exhausting to you after a long day, here’s an idea: hire a chef! HireAChef.com lists three certified personal chefs near Castle Rock zip codes who will prepare a meal just the way you want it (especially useful for special needs diets).
And if that seems too extravagant, there’s always take out or ordering in. Most restaurants may be booked for Valentine’s Day by now, but Grub Hub can arrange deliveries of local restaurant fare from Toss Asian Café and Mt. Fuji. Between the two you can get Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai or Japanese eats.
