After your curb appeal and front door, any arriving guests’ first impression of your home’s interior is the entryway. If you’re in the mood to redo that through-the-front door space, here are some ideas and inspiration! From artwork and mirrors, to console tables and eclectic, stand-alone décor, the very first thing someone sees walking into your home makes a statement about your tastes, personality and style!
Maximize That Entry Space
Whether you’re defining that space with a dramatic color (think fire engine red!) or adding a runner, hall-tree, or bench, entryways can be both show-stopping and functional. Since most of the new homes in Crystal Valley have mudrooms, this space is for guests – their coats and purses, shoes if they need to remove them, hats and extraneous belongings.

You may not have the ideal space for a console table, but like this efficient entryway at Country Living, like this “lake house” themed entryway with a skinny bench and coat hooks and décor that’s both practical and smart-looking. The bench can be the drop-off zone for packages, too, and the hooks make it easy to deposit guest paraphernalia. Real Simple suggests arresting visitors’ attention with eye-catching wall art, displayed on one wall, as they enter. This collection of squares, rectangles and circles cut from colorful, abstract and artsy wallpaper, framed in varying shapes and sizes against a red wall is immediately eye catching.
Gallery walls are always engaging for guests, it’s a place they’ll stand and study for several minutes – especially if you have an amateur photographer in the family. Decoraid suggests you keep it minimal with black and white photos and white frames or opt for different styles and colors of frames in a mix and match grid.
And a fun way to mix function and form are coat hooks that double as artwork – like these at Etsy. You’ll need someplace to hang the coats of visiting guests – look for coat hooks that both match the rest of the room, and liven up your entryway.
Blogger Brit at House Updated describes herself as a house enthusiast and left her entryway empty for years until she happened upon an oversized piece of artwork she knew she’d love.
