Fall Festivals Near Castle Rock This Weekend!

It’s the perfect weekend to take the family to one of many fall festivals in the area—from Chatfield Farms’ Pumpkin Festival to the kid-centric Flat Acres Farm to Schweiger Ranch’s Fall Festival, you’ll enjoy hay rides, pumpkin pickin’ and corn mazes.

SLICK SCIENCE
Kids ages 8-12 will enjoy hands-on learning about the science of art! This fun science activity will involve delving into plenty of art supplies in an effort to find out more about what makes art work. Be prepared to get messy!

ELKS AT THE CASTLE
Enjoy a lovely autumn afternoon out on the terrace of a castle where you can take in a  panoramic view of the dazzling fall colors and learn all about the mating rituals of the magnificent elk. You might even hear some nearby elk bugling! Bring your own picnic dinner if you’d like—you can purchase beer, wine, and soft drinks on site. A tour of the castle will also be provided.

GHOSTLY AND TRAGIC TALES

It’s beginning to look a lot like Halloween, and Castle Rock’s got a tour for that! The Ghostly and Tragic Tales of Castle Rock is a walking tour of downtown Castle Rock featuring tales of ghostly and tragic events in Castle Rock’s history. 

You’ll hear stories about the Cantril School, The Old Stone Church, The B&B Café, Hangman’s Gulch and more. Donations are encouraged and reservations are required.

RELATABLE COMEDIAN
Steve Treviño, bases his stand-up comedy show on the day-to-day joy of marriage, kids, and living life with your best friend. As one of the country’s hottest comics, Treviño’s comedy is infused with a “Tex-Mex” sensibility yet has a uniquely American voice that transcends ethnicity, making him universally relatable.

Treviño has made memorable appearances on The Late Late Show, Comics Unleashed, and BET’s ComicView, among others. He also wrote on Mind of Mencia and produced and wrote on rapper Pit Bull’s La Esquina. His first Showtime comedy special, Grandpa Joe’s Son was in the Nielsen Top 20, and his second comedy special, Relatable, aired on Netflix.

BURGER WEEK IN CASTLE ROCK
It’s every burger lover’s favorite time of the year—when restaurants in Castle Rock come up with their own unique burgers and compete for the title of Best Burger in town!

FLAT ACRES FARM CORN MAZE AND MORE!
This kid-centric fall festival features a giant hay bale maze, perfect for kids 10 and younger. There’s also a petting zoo, bounce houses, and duck races for the little ones.

And all members of the family will enjoy choosing the perfect carving pumpkin!

NEW DRAMA ON STAGE
A dramatic living situation unfolds on stage in Guadalupe in the Guest Room, a compelling new play about overcoming grief. Guadalupe is a middle-aged woman living in her son-in-law’s guest room while she works to translate the children’s books her deceased daughter has written. Struggling with grief and separated by a language barrier, the unlikely housemates are ultimately brought together.

TRIBUTE TO BILLIE HOLIDAY
Get in a jazzy mood with a tribute to one of America’s favorite crooners, Billie Holiday. The Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra and acclaimed vocalist Heidi Schmidt will perform many of Holiday’s best-loved hits, including Summertime and God Bless the Child, as well as tunes associated with her favorite sideman, tenor saxophonist Lester Young. Don’t miss this swingin’ evening!

ELKS IN THE BACKCOUNTRY
Take a hike in the Backcountry Wilderness Area with a naturalist who can point out flora and fauna you might have missed on your own. It’s prime elk-bugling season, so you’re likely to hear the musical mating call of the the majestic elk—and maybe even spot one if you’re lucky!

PUMPKIN FESTIVAL
It’s the biggest and best Pumpkin Festival in the area! Your entry ticket gives you access to the 10-acre pumpkin patch at Chatfield Farms, as well as children’s activities, craft and artisan booths, entertainment, live music, food vendors, and more. You must purchase a ticket online for a specific date and time. Discounted Corn Maze tickets can be added for an additional $8 per person.

FALL FESTIVAL

SHADES OF BUBLÉ
Fans of Michael Bublé and his big-band standards will be swooning over this talented trio of vocalists that honors (but doesn’t imitate) the retro style that Bublé brings to his own concerts. Shades of Bublé: A Three-Man Tribute to Michael Bublé delivers favorite tunes like Feelin’ Good, Moondance, Come Fly With Me, Home, Everything, and Save the Last Dance for Me with exciting harmonies and smooth choreography.

The show combines swing standards from the jazz era, classic hits from the 1950s and 60s, as well as Billboard chart-toppers from today with thrilling new three-part vocal arrangements.

COMEDY ZONE IS BACK!
There’s nothing like an evening of stand-up comedy to raise your spirits! This laugh-out-loud evening of fun features two hilarious comedians with a variety of life experiences and stories between them.

Opener Jordan Scott Huggins is a TV writer from Raleigh, NC, and has been featured at a number of national comedy festivals. Headliner Sean Finnerty hails from Ireland and began pursuing stand-up comedy when he moved to the states. He’s made appearances at The Boston Comedy Festival, Laugh Your Asheville Off, and Blue Whale Comedy Festival.
