THROUGH THE EYES OF ARTISTS
Art has a special way of illuminating topics that are difficult to talk about—one such subject is mental health crisis and the panic, fear, sorrow, and frustration that can accompany it. This show exhibits works of artists who have been touched by mental health issues, including veterans, that have found their voices through the act of creating art. Some have even said that by giving veterans a place to create art and gather is what saved their lives.
The creator of the exhibit invites: “Take the time to look and connect with these artists and their work. We could all stand to listen more, realizing that there may not be ready-made solutions, that sometimes the only thing we can do is quietly listen with acceptance and, if possible, offer support—not in the way we think someone needs us, but in the way they truly need us.”
