WESTERN HERITAGE WELCOME CATTLE DRIVE
During the 1800s, large herds of Longhorn cattle were driven through Colorado. The route, known as the “Goodnight-Loving Trail,” started in West Texas and passed through the area on the way to the stockyards in Denver and on to Wyoming. This event helps honor that heritage.
Don’t miss the weekend of activities to celebrate Douglas County’s history and honor a longstanding tradition – the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo. The Western Heritage Welcome Cattle Drive kicks off the celebration.
The Old West will truly come to life. Watch as cowhands drive a herd of longhorn cattle through Downtown. Starting at Rock Park, the herd will continue along Perry Street before completing the journey right in front of the Castle Rock Police Department.
Lots of Western activities will take place in Festival Park, too! The Park County Regulators, a team of Old West reenactment actors, will perform a wild west show. Take an old-time photo with the family, and more!

CONCERT: RANDY HOUSER WITH CHASE BRYANT
As part of the Douglas County Rodeo festivities, Randy Houser will perform along with, Chase Bryant!
With an inimitable voice, The New York Times describes as “wholly different, thicker and more throbbing, a caldron bubbling over,” Randy Houser racked up three consecutive No. 1 hits and more than four million in singles sales to date with his Stoney Creek Records album How Country Feels. He topped the charts with the title track, “Runnin’Outta Moonlight” and “Goodnight Kiss” (also his first No. 1 as a songwriter) and earned critical acclaim for his powerful delivery of the Top 5 smash and CMA Song of the Year-nominated “Like A Cowboy.” With multiple sold-out shows in 2022, including an at-capacity stop at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Houser wrapped his co-headlining tour with longtime friend Jamey Johnson and is currently on the road with Cody Johnson. Along with preparing new music and a relentless touring schedule, Houser landed on-screen roles in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro , and more, as well as the inspiring The Hills starring Dennis Quaid.
Born and raised in rural Orange Grove, Chase Bryant’s dreams of a life in music came true faster than he could have anticipated, and by 21, he already had two Top 10 singles and tours with the likes of Brantley Gilbert and Tim McGraw under his belt. Fame and success arrived with a hefty price, though. Most days, Bryant felt like he was playing a character with expectations he could never live up to, and the harder he pushed back, the worse things got until he barely recognized the man he saw in the mirror. Though the journey to find himself nearly put him in the grave, Bryant’s stronger now for his struggles, with a clear head, an open heart, and the most gritty, compelling work of his career to show for it.

AMBROSIA
It’s a story of Happily Ever After both professionally and personally for the band members of Ambrosia who garnered five Grammy Nominations, five hit singles, sold out concerts, heavy FM airplay and the admiration and respect of the musical community for their Rock and Soul style music founded on progressive, classical and world influences; yet, rooted with the soul of the blues and R&B.
After 50 years of Ambrosia’s first appearance in the musical world, when most people might think of retiring, they still find so much joy in what they are doing and continue creating music with the hopes of putting out a new album in the near future.
They continue to push the safe boundaries of retirement to take fresh music off the shelf and produce new albums, even without the support of a record label. Still today, the band is more alive and compelling than ever and is exploring uncharted musical territory while continuing to wow life-long fans and new converts alike.

LOS LONELY BOYS
Family has always been at the center of things for Los Lonely Boys. Henry, Jojo, and Ringo Garza have been playing and touring together since they were teenagers. Three years ago, they decided to take a break to focus on their own growing families. But Summer 2022 saw them back at it again, returning to life on the road alongside The Who.
The story of how the Garza brothers rode their bluesy “Texican rock & roll” sound from San Angelo, Texas, to worldwide fame is one of rock’s great Cinderella tales. The three young brothers formed a band, got signed to a major label, and had a hit single that propelled them to stardom. They sold 2.5 million records, won a Grammy, and received five more Grammy nominations in the span of their career.
The Boys have been making music together for seventeen years now, and they show no signs of slowing down or losing inspiration. Today, you’ll find them in the studio, working on their newest album.

BUDDY GUY & KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD
The title of Buddy Guy’s latest album says it all: The Blues Is Alive and Well. The legendary blues artist’s eighteenth solo LP showcases his raw and unadulterated sound, its 15 tracks a true pleasure for aficionados and genre newcomers alike. The record is arriving on the heels of a spate of high visibility for the 81-year-old performer: at the 2016 Grammys, he picked up a trophy for “Best Blues Album” and that same year he hit the road for a U.S. tour opening for Jeff Beck. He recently appeared on David Letterman’s Netflix talk show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. A truly restless and energetic performer, The Blues Is Alive and Well is the latest triumph in an already-legendary career.
And even as Guy pushes forward with his astounding career, he’s careful not to forget his late contemporaries who inspired him along the way. “I went to sleep yesterday and woke up and all the great blues players are no longer with us. Muddy, Wolf, B.B.—they’re all gone. Before they passed away, when they were in their prime, we used to have a drink and a laugh and talk about how when one of us is gone, the others have to keep it going. I’m trying to do something to keep this music that I love so well alive.”
Utter the phrase “young blues rock guitarist” within earshot of anyone with even a cursory knowledge of the modern musical vanguard and the first name they are most likely to respond with will be Kenny Wayne Shepherd. The Louisiana born axeman and songsmith has sold millions of albums while throwing singles into the Top 10, shining a light on the rich blues of the past and forging ahead with his own modern twist on a classic sound he has embodied since his teens.
In a 20-year recording career that began when he was just 16, Shepherd has established himself as an immensely popular recording artist, a consistently in-demand live act and an influential force in a worldwide resurgence of interest in the blues.
