Family-Friendly Crystal Valley Strikes Again!
Savannah Welch and husband Lon Arnold had been house hunting for three years when they ventured into Crystal Valley and found they were home.
“We’d been looking in Highlands Ranch and Lone Tree, and we always liked Castle Rock, but could never commit,” says Savannah. But when they happened across the master-planned community nestled in nature, but with easy access to everything essential, they were ready to make a commitment and put down roots.
“We didn’t plan on moving this far south, but you feel like you’re out in nature, like you’re up in the mountains,” Savannah says. “It’s so beautiful, and you’re literally 10 minutes away from downtown Castle Rock, or the highway.
Neighborly Neighbors
The Arnold-Welches have two littles, Wyatt, 3, and Carter who is almost 2, and Savannah describes their old neighborhood as not especially kid-friendly, different from Crystal Valley where she says, everything feels family oriented.
“We don’t get the side eye here with people judging us – you know two little boys and two dogs,” she laughs. “I was always afraid, ‘Oh I hope their ball doesn’t go into the neighbor’s yard!’”
Savannah says that was one of the first things they noticed. “Everyone’s so friendly here, you get text messages on the resident Facebook page or Next Door – when something happens to one person – there are always 50 people who step up willing to help.”
More for Your Money
The Arnold-Welches settled on a D.R. Horton home already landscaped and fenced. “We felt so lucky!” Savannah says. “We love this house – that’s another thing about this area, you get more house for your money.”
The family home has four bedrooms, a loft, study and two and a half baths. “We love all the extra space and how the kitchen, dining and living areas are all one big space. You just get more bang for your buck here.”
Savannah taught school before having Wyatt and Carter and is now a full-time mom – a way-tougher job than corralling a classroom full of pre-kindergartners for half-a-day.
Life in Castle Rock
Lon is a sales and leasing consultant for AutoNation Ford in Littleton, with a 30 or so minute commute via I-25 and 470.
“We love downtown Castle Rock – the Great Divide Brewery is one of our favorites, everyone’s super-nice and the food is so good,” Savannah says.
“We’re looking forward to having block parties again this summer – where we can shut down the whole street and have fun with all the neighbors and their kids!”
