Join the community in celebrating the First Friday in August at this outdoor street-party in Festival Park! There will be live music, food trucks with all kinds of delectable bites, custom cocktails, kids activities, and the main event—the Running of the Bulls! Participate in this family-friendly 5K race or just cheer the matadors on!

RUNNING OF THE BULLS 5K RACE
As part of the First Fridays celebration in Castle Rock, take part in the annual Running of the Bulls race! Dress in all white and you’ll receive your red matador scarf at the start of the race. Then get ready to run as you’re chased by the Castle Rock version of “the bulls.”
Prizes will be awarded not only for the fastest, but also the best dressed! Social distancing measures will be in place, with start times staggered. Masks will be required until the race starts.

SLAMABAMA AT FIRST FRIDAY FESTIVAL

PETRIFIED FOREST HIKE
Take a short but rugged hike and see all kinds of geological wonders! An expert geology guide will point out these ancient trees up close and tell you how to examine the fossilized wood so you can learn the fascinating process of petrification and the theories about the ancient river that deposited these trees here.
Wear sturdy boots and bring plenty of water! This hike is intended for ages 12 and older who are able to vigorously hike for 2-1/2 hours. You’ll be in a range of open meadows and exposed slopes, so bring a hat and sunscreen!
