Wine Fest Plus Outdoor Movies and Music This Weekend!

It’s a festive weekend in the Castle Rock area! The multi-sensory Lavender Festival at Chatfield Farms will charm the entire family—you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to the South of France! You could also partake in Castle Rock’s Wine Fest featuring Colorado wineries, or the Oaked and Smoked Whiskey and BBQ festival in Highlands Ranch!

TUNES FOR TRAILS CONCERTS ARE BACK!
Enjoy a fun FREE outdoor concert while helping a good cause! The Tunes for Trails Concert series raises awareness about the great trails and parks system in Castle Rock, and donations will be accepted to help the Castle Rock Parks and Trails Foundation.

Tonight’s show features That Eighties Band, one of the most popular 80s tribute bands in America! So dig out your acid-washed jeans and leg warmers, make your hair big, and head over to the park to rock out to the best decade of music!

HISTORY OF NEGRO LEAGUES BASEBALL
A timely presentation about not only baseball but racial integration in America, this important discussion of the Negro Leagues comes at a time when the MLB has announced they are finally recognizing the Negro Leagues as Major League! 

Back by popular demand, Bob Kendrick’s multimedia presentation will impress you with the breadth and depth of its information. He covers how players got their start, how they were treated, and how they integrated into major league baseball. New this year is a behind-the-scenes look at how MLB reached their decision to recognize the Negro Leagues as Major League and how they will go about integrating stats and records.

What could be more fun than heading out to the backcountry for some quality family time? Watching an outdoor movie when you get there! On Friday night, Jack Black is hilarious in School of Rock, and on Saturday, Ben Stiller comes up against none other than Robert De Niro in Meet the Parents. Bring your own snacks or enjoy tasty bites from one of the food trucks on site. Don’t forget to register in advance!

LAVENDER FESTIVAL
You don’t have to go to Provence to experience nature the way Impressionist painters captured it—the Lavender Festival at Chatfield Farms gives you a chance to stroll through a pastoral setting with more than 2,000 lavender plants in full bloom!

The entire family will enjoy this one-day event, with free barrel train rides for kids as well as free hayride tours around the wetlands for everyone. Live music will invoke a festive atmosphere, and there will be demonstrations of the many uses of lavender. You’ll also be able to purchase lavender products made by local growers and artisans!

CASTLE ROCK WINE FEST
Wine aficionados will appreciate the scope of this outdoor wine tasting event, with offerings from more than two dozen wineries! The Grand Tasting of Colorado Wines features over 180 varietals of Colorado wine, as well as live music and unique artisan vendors. Delicious bites from local food trucks will also be available.

If you bought a ticket for the 2020 event that was postponed due to COVID, that ticket will be honored at this event. Please note this is an adult-only event—no children or pets are allowed.

OAKED AND SMOKED WHISKEY TASTING
If your libation of choice is American whiskey, this is the event for you! Spend the afternoon outdoors sampling an unlimited amount of American whiskeys from all over the U.S., including bourbons, ryes, single barrels, and other assorted styles. Your ticket also includes one full BBQ meal, featuring delicious grilled and barbecued delights. This is an adult-only event. Additional BBQ will be available for purchase.

MILITARY APPRECIATION AT THE RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL 
Raise your mug of ale to our nation’s heroes this weekend! The Colorado Renaissance Festival’s Military Appreciation Weekend extends a buy-one-get-one-free adult ticket offer to those with a military I.D., as well as free entry for their kids under 12! Additionally, there will be a special ceremony for all veterans and current service members on the Rose Stage at noon.

This is also Royal Ale & Art Weekend, with a free ale sampling in the Dancing Bear Pub from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Enjoy a selection of art inspired by the 16th Century! All of this is in addition to the regular jousting, juggling, and other entertainment of the festival!
